VMAs: The Last Word

Another VMAs has shuffled off into history (or it will, as soon as Kanye and Taylor stop duking it out in TV appearances), but lest we forget the highs and lows of MTV's annual MTV-fest, we've got one more look at the night the music video circus came to Radio City Music Hall. Remember that?

So, tonight's 2009 MTV Video Music Awards were insane. So much drama. But remember, there were actually some awards handed out. Crazy, huh?

Gabe & Leighton Look Pretty Good Going "Bad"

What is it about Gabe Saporta that makes him the life of the party? The geek-chic white frames? The leather jacket? Take one look at the just-released video for Cobra Starship's "Good Girls Go Bad," and you'll see what we mean. With Gossip Girl's Leighton Meester by his side and product in his hair, the dude is pretty much on top of the world. Insofar as the world is defined as a cramped little deli. Though it's not just any deli. This one's full of surprises...

Rob and Kristen: NOW Do You Believe?

If Bella Swan learns anything in Twilight, it's that things are not always what they seem. But is that true for Twilight/New Moon icons Robert Pattinson and Kristen Stewart? Photos don't lie, do they?

Buzznet Exclusive: Jared Leto Talks New Album, Kanye West and ... Prom?

As musical journeys go, the one taken by 30 Seconds to Mars has been one long, strange trip. Since breaking through to new heights with the rock hit "The Kill," and then making history by shooting a music video in China, the band has been comparatively quiet for the past year, in part because it was tied up in business disputes with its record label. But despite the drama, 30STM singer and co-founder Jared Leto tells Buzznet that the band is ready to blast off once again. 3, 2, 1...

Young Hollywood Flocks To The Desert For Coachella

Part of the fun of the annual Coachella festival is the sensation of leaving civilization behind as you head off to the remote, palm-studded fields of Indio, California. But no matter how isolated it may seem, it's still only two hours from LA, and you know what that means: celebs, celebs, everywhere celebs.

There are two kinds of celebrities at Coachella: the regulars (we swear, we've seen Cameron Diaz lounging in the VIP like, every year - the girl is a music fan) and the n00bies, the new Hollywood types who you sense are just hanging around to be part of the scene. We won't say which one we think is which, but we'll tell you what we did see. Basically, hotties.

Rpattz and Kristen: Is It Real?

Hold on to your knit caps, Rpattz fans: there's new evidence lending credence to the rumors that Twilight superstars Robert Pattinson and Kristen Stewart are maybe, possibly an actual item. But before we go any further, we have to say: as evidence goes, it's pretty thin. And yet, juicy.

Coachella: Art Attack In The Making

No matter how much attention is paid to the bands performing at this weekend's Coachella festival — who the frack is Paul McCartney, anyway? — it's well worth remembering that a perennially major draw at the fest is the array of art pieces and installations rising from the field.

Each year, Coachella's organizers use their big rock n' roll party as maybe the best outdoor art exhibit in the country (well, certainly the best art exhibit in the country where you can see M.I.A., The Cure and Mastodon live). In past years, it's been a place to sneak a peek at what's next in hipster aesthetics (steampunk, anyone?). Now we've got a sweet little preview of some of the massive and yes, misty art you'll probably see this weekend. It'll be hard to miss.

The Bamboo Starscraper:

A collaboration between designer Gabriel Nordyke and eco-friendly building company Bamboo DNA, this 80-foot tall structure will make you think about the power of nature. The Starscraper — which will build on designs featured at Coachella and its East Coast cousin, the All Points West festival — will loom large over the field and appears to be built to withstand anything except very hungry panda bears.

The Tesla Coil:

This high-voltage transformer has been a Coachella regular, and it delivers a jolt every time. Another deceptively simple piece that underscores the natural forces that shape our world, the coil is essentially a modified version of the same electricity generator devised by Nikola Tesla roughly 120 years ago. But hey, if it ain't broke, you know? There's nothing better than seeing that blue electric charge fire up the desert sky at night.

The Serpent Mother:

No, the Octomom has not been added to the Coachella lineup. But we'll tell you who has: this beastly flaming venus flytrap that looks like the collision of Little Shop of Horrors and Backdraft. Created by the fabulous Flaming Lotus Girls art collective, the mama snake has already made the rounds at Burning Man. Now she's headed straight for Indio, Calif. All we know is, she is going to scare the crap out of Morrissey.

The Elastic Plastic Sponge:

Like a tidal wave made entirely of plastic tubing, the Sponge will serve two essential purposes at the festival: it will blow minds and spray water on bodies. Yes, the designers — credit goes to the Ball-Nogues studio and the enterprising students at the Southern California Institute of Architecture — engineered the sponge with a giant misting system that will keep festival-goers from wilting in Coachella's inferno-like climate. And like the lineup of Escape the Fate, this art installation is ever-changing: the designers say they plan to mold the Sponge into different shapes during the course of the weekend.

And there you have it. You have to hand it to the organizers: they know where to find insanely oversize art pieces that really are best experienced in the middle of the desert. Are you going to be there? Do you have any suggestions for giant artworks that might go over well at a rock concert?

Jonas' Nicole Anderson Hearts Fans

Jonas cutie Nicole Anderson popped in on her official YouTube channel to give a big shout-out to all her fans.

The 18-year-old actress shared, “Hey guys, Happy Easter! I came home a couple of days from L.A. [to home in Georgia] and I got my first fan book. I was really excited and I wanted to thank Danielle and Lea who took the time to put the book together and to everyone who contributed to the book. I really enjoyed reading all your messages and found them very sweet."

There's plenty more dish on Nicole and the new Jonas show at Jared Jr.

Hannah Montana's Lucas Till: She Makes Him Sweat

Last time we saw Lucas Till — in the Johnny Cash biopic Walk The Line — he was suffering through an unfortunate run-in with a buzzsaw. You can bet he fares quite a bit better in his new role: co-starring with Miley Cyrus in this weekend's Hannah Montana: The Movie. As her love interest, no less. O RLY?

William Beckett Interview: "A Lot Of It Is Luck."

While his band continues to rock out in support of last year's fabulous Fast Times At Barrington High , The Academy Is... vocalist William Beckett has been oh-so-tentatively stepping out on his own, including in a series of recent acoustic performances. In an exclusive interview with our pals at Idolator , Beckett totally opens up about his ambitions for the band to be more than a hottie sensation, the cues he takes from Conor Oberst and the end of "rock stars." Oh, and what's this about a possible solo album ??? Hear it all from the horse's mouth in the interview .

Chad Gilbert Interview: "Hayley Is My Best Friend"

New Found Glory guitarist Chad Gilbert seems to have some newfound perspective on matters of the heart. A year after he divorced Eisley singer Sherri DuPree , she is just weeks away from tying the knot with someone else (a certain Max Bemis , of Say Anything ) and he — well, he's pretty stoked to have found a new partner in Paramore front-pixie Hayley Williams . Though he still tries to keep it lo-pro. As if.

Death Cab For Cutie Dole Out 'Little Bribes'

The funny thing about cleaning out your closet is, even though it can be a big ol' pain in the booty, it can also lead to the unearthing of the most amazing treasures. That's kind of the deal with Death Cab For Cutie, who are on the verge of releasing a new EP, The Open Door, containing unreleased/leftover stuff from the recording sessions where they created last year's terrific Narrow Stairs album. And guess what? You get to hear it first - our bros at Stereogum are busting out a new song from the EP each day this week, starting today. Check the debut of "Little Bribes," a song formerly known as "Casino Blues." (Of course, if you're a die-hard Death Cab fan from the days of "The O.C." and you've been seeing Ben Gibbard's solo shows, it may sound a little familiar -- but just as awesome as you remember.) Enjoy.
